SOLAR FARM UPDATE AND PETITION

Two of our local MPs, Alicia Kearns and Robert Jenrick, are campaigning to have the Vale of Belvoir recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) but, at the same time there is a planning application to cover over 74 hectares (over 183 acres, or 743,000 square metres) in solar panels (this does not take into account a second proposed solar farm between Muston and Bottesford).A key issue is the scale of this solar farm (one of the biggest in the country) and its undoubted impact on the beauty of The Vale and its wildlife, some of which are endangered species (particularly with the farm's proximity to a Site of Special Scientific Interest. But consider also the impact on: arable land; house prices; walkers and cyclists; breach of National Planning Policy Framework guidelines; roads through Granby; and duration of the change (40 years).Whatever your views (for or against this proposal), please make your voice heard by Melton Borough Council: https://pa.melton.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=QHSCIBKOINA00And/or, if you object to the proposal, please consider signing the petition: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/don-t-spoil-the-vale-of-belvoir
