This page contains updates on the proposal for a Solar Farm on the land known as Green Farm, North of Barkestone.
The planning application for this proposal has been submitted to Melton Borough Council and is on their website, reference 20/01182/FUL.
The application is expected go to the MBC Planning Committee in January or February 2022. The Parish Council has been actively involved in consultation with the applicant.
The Parish Council is a consultee on this planning application (it does not make a decision - that is up to Melton Borough Council). The Parish Council is very keen to hear views from parishioners on the proposal, particularly if they are supported by evidence or information of which the PC might not be aware.
The PC formally discussed the application at its meeting on 15th December 2020, having consulted with residents as much as it was possible during the current pandemic. The PC's comments to MBC, along with further later submissions, can be found below. Basically the PC objects to the proposal, mainly on the grounds that its exceptional size makes it inappropriate for the site suggested.
